Plexāā
A smart wearable that primes your body to heal
The Challenge
Preconditioning the skin before surgery can improve blood flow and reduce healing complications, but traditionally, this required supervision in a clinical setting. The process was inconvenient, inconsistent, and inaccessible for many patients.
Plexaāā set out to change that. Their vision was a wearable device that could automate preconditioning safely and comfortably, giving patients control, and enabling treatment at home, ahead of surgery. To bring this innovation to life, they needed more than just a prototype. They needed a full product team.
We partnered with Plexāā to design and develop their entire MVP, wearable, app, and identity, working across hardware and software to build a clinically safe, patient-friendly experience.
Outcomes
The device delivers ultra-precise protocols through a comfortable wearable, while a companion app guides patients with clear steps and real-time reassurance. This intuitive flow fosters confidence, consistency, and adherence, making the treatment easy to understand and effortless to follow.
Our work laid the foundation for Plexaāā’s pre-seed raise of over £2M, accelerating their route to market.
With a seamless, user-centred system now in place, Plexaa is poised to transform surgical outcomes with a product that empowers patients and earns clinical trust.
Project Summary
From the outset, we acted as Plexaāā’s embedded product team, balancing technical constraints, clinical insight, and patient experience. Through iterative prototyping and close collaboration, we prioritised the right features and designed a system that delivered both medically and emotionally.
The wearable was engineered with comfort and usability in mind, while the app provided education, guidance, and monitoring in one intuitive flow. We also developed a distinctive visual identity to reinforce precision and care — drawing on heatmap-inspired gradients to reflect warmth, trust, and innovation.
With the MVP now live, Plexaāā is equipped to scale, and to bring human-centred design into an overlooked part of preoperative care.
